Godberd is proud to present ᴡᴀxᴡᴏʀᴋ ᴀɴᴅ ᴇxᴄᴀᴠᴀᴛɪᴏɴ by Yasmine Eve Lucas.
Yasmine Eve Lucas is an interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Montreal. Her sculptural
tableaus combine organic and synthetic materials, and draw on her personal and ancestral
histories, to bring into relief the discomforts and ambivalences of inhabiting a body.

How does it feel to be unsettled or injured, whether psychologically or physically?
Often encased in shadow boxes, Yasmine’s pieces evoke curiosity cabinets, the compulsion
to grasp and understand people, possessions, and memories even as they morph and decay.
Yasmine holds a BA in Languages and Literature from Bard College and is an MSc candidate
in Medical Anthropology at the University of Toronto. She has been exhibited at
Glass Door Gallery and La Lumière du Mile End. Her prose writing has most recently
appeared in Fanzine, Barnstorm Journal, and through the Sublime Frequencies music label (forthcoming).
